Melanie Martin said her heart is completely broken following the death of her fiancé and Dancing With The Stars alum Aaron Carter. Melanie and Aaron both share an 11-month-old son, Prince. The singer participated in DWTS season 9 with partner Karina Smirnoff. Melanie has been devastated by the news of Aaron’s passing, as she wonders how to raise their son as a single mom. She recent spoke out about Aaron’s death. “My heart is completely broken over the passing of my fiancé Aaron,” the mom of one told People in a statement. She went on to admit that she tried all she could to help the singer as she was fully aware of his struggles with addiction and his mental health. However, she also claimed she could not help him the way he needed to be helped because Aaron had an “independent and strong personality.” Melanie added that she will have to raise their son as a single mother. It terrifies her, but according to her, she has to be strong for their son.

Melanie’s first reaction to Aaron’s death came on Sunday, November 6 after the “Fool’s Gold” singer’s death was confirmed. On that Sunday, Aaron’s on-and-off fiancée shared a short TikTok video of her in tears. She additionally posted an old clip from a TikTok Live performance where Aaron demonstrated some crazy dance skills for his followers. Melanie captioned the post, “Forever posting.”
In June 2020, the on-and-off partners got engaged, and in November 2021, they had their newborn boy, Prince Carter. A week after welcoming Prince, Melanie and the famous singer called off their engagement. They later got back together in December 2021 but split up again in February 2022. It was unknown whether they were still together when Aaron passed away.
Despite his difficulties, Aaron had expressed enthusiasm and a willingness to start a family. He once admitted that he felt confident in his ability to be a good father. In addition, Aaron expressed his desire for a large family and stability, as well as great deal of joy, laughter, and fun.
