Coronation Street films Fiz's big Christmas storyline

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has been spotted filming the ITV soap’s big Christmas storyline.

Jennie’s character Fiz Stape will be one of the characters taking centre stage over the festive period this year.

Last week, Corrie insiders revealed that Fiz’s partner Tyrone Dobbs will arrange a surprise Christmas wedding in romantic scenes.

Tyrone does everything he can to keep his intentions under wraps ahead of the big day.

These new paparazzi photographs now show the moment that Fiz’s car breaks down on a country road on Christmas morning.

With Fiz unaware of what Tyrone is planning, she heads out to get some last-minute Christmas supplies.

Fiz is furious over her bad luck after the car breaks down but soon crosses paths with a friendly walker, who helps her to get back on the road.

Back on the cobbles, Tyrone and the rest of the Weatherfield residents are anxiously awaiting Fiz’s arrival. Will she make it back on time to tie the knot with Tyrone?

Most other details about Coronation Street‘s Christmas storylines are being kept under wraps for now, but previous reports have suggested that Daniel Osbourne will also pop the question to his girlfriend Daisy Midgeley.

Elle Mulvaney and Jack James Ryan, who play Amy Barlow and Jacob Hay, have also promised the usual mix of dramatic and heartwarming scenes.

Elle recently told Digital Spy: “We are filming Christmas at the moment. It’s very dramatic – it’s got a good mix of the happy and nice stuff, that makes your heart feel full. But at the same time, there’s always going to be drama because it’s Christmas! Expect the unexpected.”

Jack added: “We can’t tease too much, but it is going to be really exciting. We’re loving filming and being in – and we’ve got some really good stuff coming up.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
