Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street schoolboy Sam Blakeman finally gets his wish next week as he’s permitted to meet Harvey Gaskell at the prison.

Sam has spent the past few weeks fighting for a chance to have a discussion with evil Harvey, who killed his mum Natasha last year.

Although Sam’s father Nick Tilsley initially refused to let the meeting go ahead, he later backed down when the strong-willed youngster refused to let it go.

Upcoming episodes also see Harvey agree to Sam’s request, despite previously feeling irritated by his constant letters.

Next week, Sam and Nick meet up with Karis, the facilitator, and they all head into the prison together.

In the visiting room, Sam seizes his chance and interrogates Harvey over the circumstances surrounding his mum’s tragic death.

Harvey confirms what Sam already knew, explaining that he intended to target Leanne Battersby but killed Natasha in a case of mistaken identity.

The villain also surprises Sam by opening up over his own past.

Harvey explains that his mum died when he was 14. Sam speculates that this was the event that caused Harvey to start going off the rails.

When Sam starts asking further questions, desperate to understand Harvey, the killer gets fed up and storms off.

Later, as Harvey broods in his prison cell, it’s clear that he was rattled by Sam’s visit.

Harvey picks up Sam’s most recent letter and reads the questions that the schoolboy has asked him. Within days, he’s back in contact to confirm that he wants to see Sam again. Where will this lead?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
