Using the post to thank the soap for the opportunity, Milly said it had changed her life and she will miss playing the character.

“I can’t tell you how life changing and incredible my time at EastEnders has been, and how much I am going to miss it, but I am ready for new challenges now.

Teasing fans with an exciting exit, the soap star said that she cannot wait for them to see the episode, promising that she goes “out with a bang”.

Her exit comes as her grandmother on the soap, Dot Branning, is set to have a fitting send off this winter following the death of June Brown earlier this year.

In scenes set to air later this year, fans and cast members will pay tribute to the iconic soap character at her funeral in Walford. Dot’s friends and family will say a fond farewell to the legendary character, who has been living in Ireland since 2020, at the special service.

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
