Sonia Fowler is set to learn heartbreaking news about Dot Branning in new scenes airing on EastEnders next week.
The BBC soap is set to pay an emotional tribute to the character, who dies off screen following the tragic real-life passing of June Brown earlier this year aged 95.
In new scenes set to air on Thursday, December 1, the square’s residents prepare for the Christmas lights party at the Queen Vic and Sonia’s phone dies as she misses an important call.
However, she eventually receives the call, and sadly learns the devastating news that Dot has passed away.

Martin Fowler star James Bye previously revealed that there will be emotional scenes involving Sonia around Dot’s death.
“The funeral for Dot is coming up – Martin plays quite a huge part in that, and for Sonia, as a support network for Sonia,” he recently told RadioTimes.
“And we’ve been filming those episodes today and any EastEnders fans are gonna struggle with it, because it’s really tearful. It’s beautiful. Natalie Cassidy gives the performance of her life. There’s not a dry eye in the house.”
