Emmerdale has aired a shock exit for Moira Dingle after the shooting drama.

Monday’s episode revealed that Moira was leaving the village with her son Isaac to go visit Amy and Kyle in Belfast, leaving her family unsure if she’d return anytime soon.

The episode followed up on the shoot revelation last week where Cain confessed to Moira that his son Kyle actually was the one who’d shot Al Chapman.

A tense visitation at the prison saw Cain alarmed that Moira was cracking under the pressure of his secrets, as she admitted Amy had it right by fleeing the village.

When she got back to the farm, Moira came close to admitting to son Matty what had been going on until he announced that Amy had gone to Belfast with Kyle.

Moira stunned brother Mack later on when she revealed she too would leaving the village along with son Isaac, so they could support Amy and Kyle in Belfast.

As Moira was getting ready to leave, Mack intervened to remind her that she’ll want to bring Kyle back home when she knows that’s not possible.

Mack then pointed out that Matty will feel “totally abandoned” if she just leaves the village without saying goodbye, but she insisted: “He’s a big boy, Mackenzie, and he’s got you.”

Realising he couldn’t talk his sister round, Mack was disappointed to hear that Moira had “no idea” when she’d be returning to the village.

“You’re coming back though, right?” Mack asked, with Moira admitting: “I’m not going to lie. I’m tempted not to.”

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief because Natalie J Robb has confirmed that Moira will return to the village eventually.

“Moira gets her head around it. She does come back from Belfast, saying it was a blip and it’ll be okay now. She thinks she can make it work,” the actress said.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, and streams on the ITV Hub.
