Emmerdale airs farewell scenes for Vanessa Woodfield next week as she waves goodbye to the village again. Vanessa will be taking a break from our screens as Michelle Hardwick, who plays her, has gone on maternity leave.
Next week, Vanessa deals with some surprising news as she learns that Rhona Goskirk has bought Jamie Tate’s share of the veterinary business following a suggestion from Kim.
Vanessa isn’t pleased over the revelation, especially when she learns that part of the contract states Kim will get 15% off her future veterinary bills.

Glad that she won’t be around to witness any of this, Vanessa explains that she’s accepting a new job in Canada. This leads to an argument between Vanessa and Rhona, with the two friends both bringing up dramas that are better off left in the past.
The next day, Vanessa finds her girlfriend Suzy Merton having a heart-to-heart with Leyla Cavanagh.
Vanessa wrongly jumps to the conclusion that they’re both using drugs again and confronts the pair.

This goes down badly with Suzy, who’s fed up with having to repeatedly defend herself around Vanessa.
Even though Leyla offers up proof that they’re sober, the damage has been done. Vanessa and Suzy both agree that their relationship is over and they decide to go their separate ways.
Before long, Vanessa arrives for her farewell party and confirms to her friends that Suzy won’t be joining her in Canada.
Vanessa’s friends Rhona, Paddy and Marlon are among those who later wave her off as she leaves in a taxi.
In real life, Michelle and her wife Kate Brooks welcomed the arrival of their second child Betty last week.
