Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Matty is on a mission to find out the truth in scenes airing on Emmerdale next week, as he gets closer to learning the truth about what happened to Al.

When he learns that Moira and Amy have both left the Dales to go to Belfast for a bit of a breather, Matty becomes keen on learning the whole story – suspecting that some key information is being kept from him.

And as viewers of the ITV soap know very well, information is indeed being kept from Matty as he has no idea that Cain’s stay behind bars for murdering Al Chapman is actually a cover to keep the blame from the real guilty party – Kyle.

But Moira and Amy’s disappearance is not the only piece of the puzzle he has to solve, as he’s also keen on finding out what led to Cain and Al’s fatal showdown in the first place.

Chas, of course, knows full well that it was her affair with Al that led to the trouble starting, but that is something that she is desperately hoping will stay under wraps.

With that in mind, she sets about trying to steer Matty in a different direction, but she’s left horrified when he tells her that he is going to the prison to talk to Cain himself.

When he gets there, Matty wastes little time getting straight to the point and makes it clear that he wants some answers.

Cain is not ready to give those answers though, and he shuts Matty down. When Matty leaves, Cain is confident he’s convinced him to leave it alone… only that soon turns out to not be the case.

Matty is surer than ever that something is amiss and that Cain has just told him a pack of lies. But how long will it be until he stumbles upon the truth?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
