Emmerdale’s Samson Dingle devastates Amelia Spencer with cruel decision

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

It’s about to get emotional on Emmerdale, with Samson set to devastate Amelia with a decision.

In episodes that air next week, Amelia harbours doubts about her maternal capabilities, with the new mother struggling with baby Esther.

Despite Dan assuring her that things will be fine, Amelia is still struggling emotionally, which is heightened when she can’t find a babysitter.

Lydia, however, attempts to ease Amelia’s worries, passing Esther to Samson when at the Dingle household.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given his reluctance to be a father, Samson is uncomfortable when holding Esther, becoming angry that his stance has been ignored.

Letting his emotions get the better of him, he suggests to Amelia that Esther should be put up for adoption, an idea that is met with disdain from the baby’s mother.

He attempts to get under Amelia’s skin by reminding her of their past discussions on abortion, but she is adamant that the best course for Esther is being close to her family.

Noah then echoes Dan’s sentiments, reassuring Amelia that she will be a great mother; he then delivers a sweet gesture, setting up a cot for Esther in his room.

The niceties don’t last long though, with Noah getting into a confrontation with Samson, leading the latter to make a cruel decision as he calls social services and makes a complaint about Amelia.

The next morning, Dan is stunned when a social worker knocks on the door, with Amelia being devastated that Esther’s welfare has been questioned.

Sam is left distraught at the actions of his son, detailing the sacrifice he made when taking care of Alice before her death.

Samson is unmoved, however, biting back by saying he doesn’t want to be like his father. This statement destroys Sam, with the hurtful remark making him collapse to the ground.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, and streams on the ITV Hub.
