Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Tabyana Ali Talk GH Obstacles, Soulmates

Given their recent interaction at Pentonville, it’s clear that Spencer Cassadine and Trina Robinson, played respectively by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Tabyana Ali, have a ways to go before admitting their love for one another. Recently, the two actors spoke out on some obstacles their on-screen personas are facing.

Nicholas Alexander Talks Grandfather Victor

Ali and Chavez recently spent an evening with a few hundred “Sprina” fans at a Coastal Entertainment event. Among the questions the duo fielded were what obstacles are facing the duo. For starters, Spencer has a grandfather who’s fairly controlling when it comes to his family — and everything else in life.

One fan inquired when Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) will stop being such a bully? “Victor will stop being a bully when he’s in the ground,” Chavez theorizes. “It’s in his nature.” But the dynamic between the two Cassadines has its plusses. “[Victor] and Spencer have an interesting relationship in some ways. He’s a bit of a father figure to him. He doesn’t [always] understand Spencer. He’s definitely mischievous. Spencer needs to be cautious with him for sure.”

Ali Talks Officer Rory, AKA That Guy

Along with Victor, there’s another person who is standing in between Trina and Spencer — policeman Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Krause). “[Rory and Trina] are working on their relationship and growing, and we’re trying to see where we’re taking it,” Ali shares. “But the tension between Spencer and [Trina] is there.”

Fans are hoping that somehow, someday, Spencer and Trina find their way to love. “I feel like Spencer and Trina come together in a unique way that is special to them,” Chavez says. “Spencer and Trina are soulmates,” Ali offers. “They have a connection. Regardless of how many times they try to separate from each other, they still end up back with each other. Trina is not trying to think about Spencer, yet she can’t help it.”

“They are soulmates,” Chavez concurs. “That’s how I play the relationship whenever we’re in the same room with each other. Soulmates doesn’t mean we’re always the nicest to each other. Soulmates are the people who hurt you the worst. They’re the ones who make you feel really badly about yourself sometimes. It’s crazy that way. It’s not all roses.”
